The Islamic Services Foundation (ISF) is a non-profit organization, which has been dedicated to serving the Muslim community since it’s founding in 1989. Headquartered in Dallas, Texas the ISF is home to several community service projects.
The establishment of Brighter Horizons Academy (BHA) in 1989 was a monumental achievement for the ISF. BHA is now the largest Islamic school in the south with a student population exceeding 600 students distributed on levels from Pre-k to 12th grade. It is our experience with this school that has served as the motivation for launching the Islamic Schoolbooks Project.
The Islamic schoolbooks Project, launched in October 2002, is the brainchild of a group of dedicated educators and professionals at the Islamic Services foundation and Brighter Horizons Academy.
About the Project:
As members of the American Islamic -school community, we immediately recognized the shortage of usable, engaging Islamic studies material. Like most Islamic schools in North America, we found that our Islamic studies curriculum had to be self-written or collected piece-by-piece, and was largely a mix-and- match proposition.
Our goal in undertaking this project was to produce a well-written, creatively designed and continuous 1st-12th grade Islamic studies series. We pray the we will be able to complete the entire project in the very near future. We yearn to serve our precious young Muslim genration and motivate them, through these new Islamic Studies books, to learn, love, and live Islam.
Other Services:
The Islamic Services Foundation offer other services to the Texas Muslim community including Texas Islamic Court; a dispute resolution service, and the Muslim Yellow pages; a directory of Islamic businesses and organizations throughout the Dallas/ Forth Worth area and Houston.
